Born in the state of Paraiba, Brazil.
Jean started practicing judo at the age of 10. After practising
Judo for 3 years and winning many titles Jean discovered Capoeira;
a Brazilian Martial Art that combines a kind of dance and rhythms
with deadly kicks and acrobatics.
Capoeira helped him to build his strength and is responsible
for his flamboyant style of fighting.
Since from an early age it was obvious that Jean would be
a great fighter. He is a natural champion.
Back in his homeland Brazil, he is known as Jean "White
Bear" Silva.
Jean stepped into the octagon for the first time in April
1999. After a very impressive win he never stopped bringing
trophies home.
In 2002 he decided to move to the UK.
His first fight in the was against Ben Stewart in High Wycombe.
"It was a very hard fight, one of the toughest fights
in my entire life. Ben was very strong and well prepared,
and he had all the crowd behind him. But I was confident that
I was going to win."
The fight lasted 3 full 5 mins round and Jean won by a triangle
chocke.
At the end of the fight the crowd was shouting "Brazeeelll,
Silva, Silva"!
Jean has come a long way since winning his first fight in
the UK. Today he hold a very impressive record of 20 wins,
2 draw and only 3 defeats.
As a kid growing up in a very poor neighbourhood in small
town in Brazil, life has never been easy for Jean. However
he's been marked to do great things.
His plans are to continue improving his technique and teaching
his own unique style.
